With Easter fast approaching, the locals want nothing more than to celebrate the feast with family and friends. This year, however, COVID-19 restrictions have been tightened like never before, with people being restricted to no more than two in public, as well as within private residences. As a result, villages have taken the opportunity to get a little more creative this year with San Ġwann being the first. It will be getting its very first Via Sagra, in the form of a neon light drive-through display.
The San Ġwann local council have stressed and emphasised the importance of safety during the ongoing pandemic and are therefore offering people of the locality a way to enjoy the Easter period safely.
San Ġwann’s Via Sagra display will be showing key moments from Biblical stories, for people to absorb and enjoy from a distance, within their own vehicles.
The locality’s mayor, Trevor Fenech, said that: “Preparation works under way for the first Via Sagra in San Ġwann. Light features being installed, which can be enjoyed as a drive-through from the safety of your vehicle.”
“An initiative by the San Ġwann Local council, however, a special thanks goes to Dominic Cassar, who has been working side by side with me to make this event possible. When we work together, we can achieve anything,” he continued.
