Triathlete Kai Azzopardi selected among 20 athletes to train at Switzerland camp

14-year-old Kai Azzopardi, who forms part of the Malta Youth Olympic team, has been selected among another 20 athletes to form part of a training camp in Switzerland.

The athlete was selected from a group of 200 people after attending an interview. The training camp is fully funded by Pho3nix Project, a non-profit organisation created to promote physical activity as a way to improve health and  well-being amongst children

Health, fitness and movement play a crucial role in personal growth, and can help a child develop the physical and mental tools to live their best life. Their mission is to make those tools available for all.

Azzopardi boasts a successful track record, winning the Triathlete of The Year award four times in a row in his age group, winning the Superleague triathlon in the youth’s category as well as the adult’s Aquathlon.

The athlete’s greatest achievement to date has to be his victory in the Trumer Triathlon in Austria, where he placed first overall.
