Bangladeshi Artist Armeen Musa to Perform in Malta this Week

Armeen Musa

This Friday, 5 August, sees Bangladeshi artist Armeen Musa perform live at Valletta’s popular Offbeat music bar alongside guitarist Warren Galea

Offbeat is well-known in Malta for its unique concerts of live music, featuring esteemed local and international acts across an eclectic range of genres. Continuing in this vein, this week the iconic venue welcomes singer, songwriter, composer and music director, Armeen Musa, one of Bangladesh’s rising stars and an artist who defies easy categorisation.

Musa first rose to prominence in 2005, following her YouTube release of a remake of Bhromor Koio Giya — a Bengali folk song originally penned by philosopher Radha Raman. since then, the video has attracted over 3 million views, as well as having been re-released as part of legendary brand Buddha Bar’s 2015 Collection.

She has performed alongside Grammy Award-winner Bobby McFerrin, Oscar-nominated film composer and producer AR Rahman, Pakistani band Mekaal Hasan and Bangladeshi pop star Arnob. Armeen Musa is notable for being the first Bangladeshi to attend Boston’s famous Berklee College of Music, and has gone on to compose, arrange and score music for various blockbuster films and other screen projects in the Indian Subcontinent. She also currently leads Bangladesh’s first choir, Ghaashphoring.
