WATCH: Evocative Trailer of ‘Ta’ Fuqha Senduqha’ Released

‘Ta’ Fuqha Senduqha’ is an original Maltese play written by André Mangion and directed by Toni Attard. Inspired by real-life experiences of poverty in Malta, acting giants such as Michaela Farrugia, Josette Ciappara and Charles Sammut are among the play’s outstanding cast members, all ready to bring the words on paper to life.

The main protagonist is Ruth, a simple woman yearning for a better life for her child. Throughout the course of the play, Ruth describes her authentic experiences and how she feels a huge sense of internal conflict, wanting to escape the tight circle of poverty, but sometimes feeling as if she will never be able to. The contemporary state of poverty in Malta is the point of convergence for this theatrical production.

While the plot is fictional, the story is complete with relatable characters and real-like stories that can be found anywhere. The poor are not only those who lack food; they might also be those who have resources but lack the skills to make the most use of them.

Ta’ Fuqha Senduqha will be performed at the Spazju Kreattiv Theatre from October 14 to October 23, 2022. You can get tickets at www.kreattivita.org. With support from the Arts Council of Malta, Udjenza and Spazju Kreattiv collaborated to create Ta’ Fuqha Senduqha.
