Exploring Tarxien by torchlight
Exploring Tarxien by torchlight
Next Friday, 18 November, Heritage Malta will host an open evening for the Tarxien Prehistoric Complex, taking visitors on a guided tour by torchlight specially for this event
Notable as one of the oldest man-made sites in the world, in recent years Tarxien has attracted flocks of visitors to its fascinating site, which, following partial repurposing during the Bronze Age and Roman era, was lost to history until its rediscovery at the start of the twentieth century.
Participants are advised to bring their own LED torches to the visit in order to highlight some of the site’s most noteworthy features, alongside a curator’s guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and the historic treasures unearthed during its excavation. Coffee, tea and cakes will be served following the tour, which is estimated to take two hours.
