Del Borgo

Located in a narrow street in the village of Vittoriosa, this wine bar has got to be at the top of our list. The menu is varied, including an excellent choice of platters as well as proper restaurant dishes including pasta, salads and main courses.  The wine list details every particular characteristic of each wine, categorised according to the taste and grape. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a slightly more up market wine bar.

L’Enoteca

This family-run wine bar feels like a hidden secret, yet it’s as central as it gets, bang in the middle of Rabat. Date night? Choose to wine and dine in their romantic historical cave dating back thousands of years. Here they specialise in degustation platters with homemade delicacies, exotic focaccias and vegan dishes. The well-researched wine list features a good selection of rare local and international wines.

Onella

A cosy wine-bar located at Victory Square in Naxxar, a village in the central part of Malta. Here, locals gather for a good glass of wine from the varied wine list as well as a selection of sharing dishes including baked rosette, rabbit spring rolls and Parmiggiano focaccia.

Fra Giuseppe

A well-known wine bar with one of the best vibes located in the quaint village of Balzan. The menu includes a selection of bites, pinsa, focaccia and platters. The combination of different meats and cheeses from the Fra Giueseppe Deli board paired with one of their 100 bottles of wine in the perfect reason to plan a cosy night out in the village. The friendly welcome is a bonus. Fra Angelico, its sister wine bar offering a similar menu is also open in Rabat.

Little Red Door

Off a side street in Valletta, a great little wine bar with the opportunity to order a table length platter of meats and cheeses and a selection of local and European wines. Definitely a hidden treasure in the capital city of Malta.
