Rabat's Wignacourt Museum to Host Series of Concerts Starting This Saturday

An exclusive ensemble concert held amongst the paintings and history of the Wignacourt Museum, Rabat will shine the  light on Maltese orchestral talent on Saturday 15 April

Saturday evening marks the first in a series of concerts happening at the Wignacourt museum, and this very first concert will explore the works of classical composers like Mozart and Beethoven whilst being surrounded by art from their era.

The rich and indulgent music of the night will explore a different side of Malta through a peek into the luxurious balls of the Knight’s courts that is contrasted by the sombre Catholic perception of the Knights Hospitaller evidenced in the art at the museum.

The concert is set to replicate this luxury by bringing forth the notes that would have been played in the courts like those of Wignacourt while exploring today’s contemporary luxury through food, drink, and more.

The ensemble consists of Stefan Calleja as First Violin, Sonia Mallia as Second Violin, Joseph Mallia as Viola, Desirée Calleja as Cello, and Abbey Grech on Double Bass. The Fanal Ensemble is directed by conductor Jean Pierre Cassar.

The concert kicks off at 19:00 and will be followed with a reception.
