Sister Act: The Musical is an adapted live musical from the famous 1992 blockbuster, starring the extremely gifted Whoopi Goldberg and other renown actors including Maggie Smith, Kathy Najimy, and Wendy Makkena. The story follows Deloris, a lounge singer who is unwillingly coerced to join a convent after she was placed in a witness protection program. The film grossed more than $200 million dollars, and it directed by the now-late Emile Ardolino.

Through its immediate success, the movie was transitioned into a live musical back in 2006 in California, composed by Alan Menken and lyrically written by Glenn Slater. It instantaneously becoming a record-breaking show. The musical was then opened in London’s West End, at the London Palladium, in 2009.

Teatru Astra is back with its fifth consecutive live musical, diversifying its already well-expanded repertoire, now presenting ‘Sister Act: The Musical’. The set of performances are meant to start from the 31 Mars 2022 up until the 3 of Avril 2022 at the Teatru Astra in Triq ir-Reppublika, Vicoria, Gozo after the slight postponement due to the COVID-19 restrictions.
