Gozo Channel Suspends Services Due to Heavy Storm

Storm Helios hit Malta with a bang, with the island facing very strong (force 7) Easterly winds, with gusts reaching up to 45 knots and with waves expected to reach up to seven metres overnight.

The Meteorological Office at Malta International Airport has issued an Orange warning, valid until 10pm, as the weather is bound to get worse.

Gozo Channel Ferry has no choice but to suspend its services today and tomorrow 10 February.

Malta’s food courier apps, Bolt and Wolt, have also made the decision to suspend their delivery services until further notice to ensure safety of couriers.

Thankfully, no major incidents have been reported so far but the public is advised to avoid coastal areas due to bad conditions, including rough sea and flooding.
