In 2016, Maltese drag racer Duncan Micallef became the fastest drag racer in European history, when he completed a 1000-foot race in just 3.89 seconds at a top speed of 312 mph.

The following year, he was declared 2017 European Top Fuel Drag Racing champion.

The Malta Motorsport Federation president will be making a comeback at the championships after four years, where he will make his debut at the main event in Santa Pod between the 26 and 29 May.
