Christmas in the Park Returns to Salina This Weekend

The festive village will open from 12 to 21 December 2025 in the heart of St Paul’s Bay, turning the park into a cosy little world of lights, music and winter cheer. It is designed for all ages, so you can wander in with kids, friends or a mug of something warm and feel quite at home.

Christmas in the Park is back for its fifth outing and it looks set to be the most charming yet. The Ministry for Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness is leaning into the magic of the season while keeping things firmly rooted in sustainability, which feels very fitting for an event tucked inside Salina Park.

The festive village will open from 12 to 21 December 2025 in the heart of St Paul’s Bay, turning the park into a cosy little world of lights, music and winter cheer. It is designed for all ages, so you can wander in with kids, friends or a mug of something warm and feel quite at home.

One of this year’s showstoppers is the Illuminated Pathway, a glowing trail dotted with endangered species brought to life through vibrant installations. It is a gentle reminder that beauty and awareness can sit side by side without dimming the festive mood.

Across the ten days, the atmosphere moves gently with live performances. You might catch local star Haley Azzopardi easing everyone in on the first evening, Firelight Trio lifting the tempo on Saturday, or Glen Vella rounding off a Sunday night with that unmistakable voice. There’s enough variation to keep the park feeling alive without overwhelming the whole place.

Food, naturally, is never far away. Expect Maltese favourites, Christmas treats, warm bites in paper trays, the odd crepe, and the inevitable festive decorated doughnut. What’s more, children will have their own kingdom to roam, with crafts, puppet shows, train rides and face painting dotted around the park. It is the kind of set-up where adults get a breather while small ones dart from stall to stall.

The park itself reads like a festive map. There is the Circular Christmas Corner, the Gingerbread Castle, Santa’s Sustainable Development Station, his Communications Unit, the Environmental Learning Lodge and Santa’s Green Corner. The Garbage Monster has set up a holiday challenge, while REWS offers its own cheerful green station.

Looking for a spot of Christmas shopping? Local artisans bring another layer of charm, from wood engraving to homemade candles, jewellery, chocolate making and those hand crafted ornaments that somehow feel like they belong in your home already. The Maltese Honey Hut, The Elves Workshop, The Gift Corner and plenty more fill the quieter lanes. Santa’s Grotto sits tucked away, Children’s Wonderland sprawls across several zones and the Knight of the Christmas Fortress stands guard as if the whole thing were a tiny kingdom.
