Russia may resume flights to Malta this week

Russian authorities may announce the resumption of international flights to seven countries, including Malta this week.

Daily Russian broadsheet newspaper Izvestia announced the news and cited unnamed airport and airline sources.

According to Izvestia, as well as Corporate Dispatch News, Russia is also considering resuming international flights to France, Hungary, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt and China’s Shanghai.

Russia effectively grounded international commercial flights during the COVID-19 lockdown earlier this year and so far, has only resumed flights to London, Tanzania, Turkey and Switzerland.

As it stands at the time of writing this article, Russia has more than 961 thousand cases, and ranks fourth in the world with the highest number of cases. For the last few weeks, the country has recorded almost 5,000 cases on a daily basis.
