Maltese short films shown every month at Spazju Kreattiv

Every single month, Spazju Kreattiv will be showing three notable short films that were shot and produced in Malta. The screenings will also be followed by a discussion with the directors.

Spazju Kreattiv, referred to as Malta’s centre for creativity, is essentially a programme of creative arts and culture events, with their base being at St James Cavalier in Valletta. Throughout the year, their intimate cinema screens a range of international and local art house movies, as well as cult films, documentaries, Academy Award nominees and music events.

Vanessa Vella’s Punchline (2019)

Starting tomorrow, Vanessa Vella’s Punchline (2019) will be shown. The story follows a stand-up comedian who is striving to their big break from a female talent agent. When the meeting takes an unexpected turn, the comedian learns that demanding respect means paying a hefty price.

The Maltese Fighter (2015)

Also showing tomorrow is The Maltese Fighter (2015), by Arev Manoukian. The historical drama revolves around a struggling single father and boxer from Valletta, who is forced to join a corrupt underworld as he attempts to provide for his son.

I Lost Myself When I Found You (2019)

Experimental drama I Lost Myself When I Found You (2019) is also included in the programme. The drama, by Chelsea Muscat, is about a girl who escapes to her childhood home near the sea in order to process a past relationship that lingers.
