Michelin stars for Malta have been announced. Who made the list?
The Michelin team has announced its new winners for 2021 – these are the tables to book in Malta when restaurants reopen
The local restaurant industry has had considerably little to celebrate in the past year – but now that has changed.
A much-needed ray of light has been supplied by Michelin, which has just announced the restaurants in Malta that have earned stars in its 2021 guide.
The Michelin star bestowed upon places that the guide deems ‘worth a stop’. Bahia and Ion – The Harbour both won their first star in the Michelin Guide, joining existing One Star restaurants De Mondion, Noni and Under Grain and bringing the total number of Michelin Starred restaurants to five.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, said “the last year has created enormous challenges for the hospitality industry around the world and our hearts go out to all those facing difficulties in these trying times. Our inspectors, like the restaurants themselves, have had to adapt, but we were very pleased that they were able to spend time on the islands and find two new Michelin Stars and 5 new Michelin ‘Plates’ to add to the Guide”.
Five additional restaurants have earned a ‘plate’ and made it on this year’s guide.
These restaurants are: The Fork and Cork in Rabat; Chophouse and Fernandõ Gastrotheque, both in Sliema; Zest in St Julian’s; and Mezzodi in Valletta. The full list can be found here.
The three existing Bib Gourmand restaurants all retained their award for ‘good quality, good value cooking’ for another year: Terrone, Commando and Rubino.
