Maxine Aquilina to star in comedy we've all been waiting for

Former Malta’s Got Talent judge Maxine Aquilina, and musicians Chris Dingli and Paul Portelli will make their eagerly anticipated return to the stage at San Anton Gardens with Midsummer, a Play with Songs, from 24 to 31 July

Midsummer’s weekend in Edinburgh. It’s raining. Bob’s a failing car salesman on the fringes of the city’s underworld. Helena’s a high-powered divorce lawyer with a taste for other people’s husbands. She’s totally out of his league; he’s not her type at all. They absolutely should not sleep together. Which is, of course, why they do.

Midsummer is the story of a great lost weekend of bridge-burning, car chases, wedding bust-ups, bondage miscalculations, midnight trysts and self-loathing hangovers.

Midsummer, a play with songs, is a collaboration between playwright David Greig and singer-songwriter Gordon McIntyre. Produced by the MADC and directed by Chris Gatt, the eagerly anticipated Malta premiere features actors/musicians Chris Dingli and Paul Portelli and actor/singer Maxine Aquilina – together they bring to life the romantic comedy we’ve all been waiting for!

Midsummer is rated 16+ and runs from 24 to 31 July at San Anton Gardens, Attard. Tickets cost €22.
