Bowler Sue Abela wins gold at the European Championship of Champions

 Sue Abela has been be crowned as the 2021 European Champion of Champions in Chania, Crete, for the second time in her bowling career.
She defeated Danish Champion Mika Guldbaek 2-1 in a thrilling best of three final.

Abela qualified to the finals by making it through to the top 8. She qualified in the fifth place,  and progressed to the fourth place on Saturday, with an average of 218 over eight games. She remained in the fourth place after competing in another strong set of four games on Sunday morning, finishing ahead of Andrea Hansen from Norway.

In the semi finals, it was down to the last four and soon to be last two in each division; Malta and Denmark. Malta celebrated as Abela went past Sanders 2-1 and Denmark’s Mika Guldbaek brushed aside Victoria Johansson 2-0. 

During the final, Abela went head-to-head with Mika Gulbaek, in a tight game 186-182.  Both bowlers struggled to strike and eventually Abela recorded a win for Malta 182-169, defeating Denmark 2-1.
