Maltese bowler strikes gold at tournament in Gibraltar
Following her impressive gold medal success at the European Champion of Champions, Maltese bowler Sue Abela continued her winning streak overseas and dominated the King’s Bowl Tournament in Gibraltar.
The tournament, which has attracted some of the best British bowlers, was organised by the Tenpin Bowling Association of Gibraltar. In the senior’s event competition, the qualification round and final ranking were played over no less than six games. During these games, Abela produced her best performance of the week, with an overall score of 1,235 pins, which shot her straight up the leader board and thus, she was crowned as the Senior Gibraltar Open Champion!

The day before, the Maltese champion took part in the Open Mix event. There, she accumulated a score of 1,209 over six games, which almost resulted in her achieving another podium position. She finished fourth overall, with the British Liam Fitzpatrick taking the title, with a score of 1,353 pins.
Our star bowler will be back in action tomorrow as she will be teaming with doubles partner, Rob Thurlby, who, like Abela is a member of the Brunswick Team. The two will compete in the Gibraltar Mix Championship and we cannot wait to see what happens.
