A merry Manoel Christmas

A merry Manoel Christmas

As pandemic restrictions were lifted as of late, Teatru Manoel’s creative team went straight into action, to come up with a programme that would bring the Christmas spirit back to the theatre, with varied, family-friendly productions that will have audiences buzzing.

A Versatile Christmas

Kicking things off with fervent gusto, A Versatile Christmas promises a magical mix of musical genres. For one night only at Teatru Manoel – on 7 December at 6:30pm and 9pm – brass, opera, rhythm, jazz and swing will come together in a unique arrangement produced by Versatile owner and director Paul Borg, led by creative artist Antoine Farrugia and featuring singers Nadine Axisa, Pamela Bezzina, Martina Borg, Christine Dalli, Adrian Galea Lucas and Nadia Vella.

Glittering, scintillating decorations and some of the world’s top melodies will be on the Manoel Theatre stage, kick starting the spectacular festive season celebrations at the national theatre. You just won’t be able help moving your feet to the music being offered in A Versatile Christmas. It will include the romanticism of La Vie En Rose, the excitement of Fever & Feeling Good, the Spanish energy of Habanera, the classic fascination of My Way and New York, New York and much more. Add to all this the marvel that is the Manoel Theatre and the list of participating artists and what could be better?

Carols at Christmas

For younger theatregoers aged three to eight, Teatru Manoel and TOI TOI Collective have teamed up to present Carols at Christmas, directed by Petra Sant. The shows will be taking place on 18 December at 3pm and 5:30pm, and on 19 December at 11am and 3pm, at Teatru Manoel Studio Theatre.

Taking place under the musical direction of Tom Armitage and featuring Julie James, TOI TOI Christmas Classics will go down a treat with Teatru Manoel’s multi-generational audience – children aged six to 96! This promises a trip down memory lane for the whole family.

The Twits

Bringing the season to a close is a production that was specifically created by Masquerade Malta. Children’s favourite The Twits will run from Boxing Day, the 26 of December at 3pm, 6pm and 9pm and from the 27 till the 30 December at 4pm and 7pm at Teatru Manoel.

Roald Dahl’s hilarious tale comes to life in this fabulous adaptation by Ian Moore, who also directs. The cast includes Eliza Aquilina and Jayne Giordanella as the grotesque Mr Twit and Mrs Twit, and Katherine Brown as the Roly-Poly Bird. All brave six-year-olds are welcome to join in the fun in this circus of slapstick, dance and drama.

Teatru Manoel is abiding by all the guidelines outlined by the health authorities to ensure that the theatre is a safe space for everyone to enjoy this eagerly-awaited holiday season!
