December is well and truly upon us and it’s certainly the season to be jolly. For many, Christmas brings with it many memories and treasured moments from the past. It often also brings a sense of positivity and happiness.

To make the season even more festive, 30-year-old Maltese singer and songwriter Amber Bondin has released her first original Christmas song called Dan il-Milied. The song describes the happiness and joy a person feel when they have love in their lives, as well as how during the festive season, this love is felt and may look even more special. Therefore, especially during this period, we should find the courage to say the words I love you.

“If in the past Christmas’ I was not content and maybe I had not found what I wanted, this time round I can say I have found love and so, this Christmas will be a special one.” Those who know the singer personally are well aware of just how much she loves Christmas and the festive season in general and thus just how long-awaited the track Dan il-Milied is.

Just to add a little more excitement, Amber will be releasing a cover version of the popular Christmas carol God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman in the coming days.

When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Amber said: “I came up with the idea of collaborating with my cousins and decided to give it a try with a Christmas song. Whilst growing up we always put up shows for our families. Megan (a member of girl-group FAITH), and myself, focused more on our career as we grew older. However, Nicole never gave singing a priority, even though we believed she is very talented.” “Therefore, I approached them both and they both agreed. We chose to cover a classic Christmas song to give it a little twist yet still bring out the beauty of the carol,” she said.

The music video was filmed in a small chapel, as they wished to capture the intimacy and true meaning of Christmas, whilst still portraying traditional aspects of a Maltese Christmas.
