Thousands of gifts donated for the less-fortunate

Countless presents and parcels were placed under the stunning Christmas tree at Castille Square for the initiative Rigali b’Imħabba, which translates to Give a Gift with Love, which aims to provide the less-fortunate children who may not be having the most festive of seasons, with presents!

Dr Lydia Abela, who happens to be the wife of Prime Minister Robert Abela, alongside the home affairs ministry invited the general public to donate gifts for the children and the people came in abundance, with thousands of parcels, ready to be donated.

The campaign came to a close yesterday evening, and the donors were thanked for their kindness and generosity.

With regards to the distribution of the presents, Bryon Camilleri, minister for home affairs, said that Malta’s disciplinary forces, such as the police force, armed forces and LESA not only took care of the present sorting, but they will also be distributing the gifts themselves to the homes of the needy children.

Lydia Abela reflected on a phone call from one of the children’s parents, saying that she was told that the recipiency letter that was sent, brought a tear to her eye. Abela said that she should not be thanked, but the kind heart of the Maltese population, as they were given with love and an aim to brighten the Christmas of others.
