13 local swimmers recently represented the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta at the Irish Short Course National Championships!
All the athletes, who range from 17 to 25 years old, competed in Ireland between the 16 and 19 of December and qualified in their heats to swim in the finals, in the three afternoon sessions.
The five female and eight male swimmers performed in 78 individual swims and yielded 46 Personal Best times, as well as two brand new national short course records.
The run-through
On 16 December, Sarah Demicoli registered a time of 2:21, 10 in the 200m butterfly event, beating her own personal best of 2:23,30, which she registered in November of this year in Guildford.
The next day, Andrea Mallia, who was swimming in the 200m breaststroke event, achieved a time of 2:20,04, beating Andrea Agius, whose time was 2:20,93 and was established in 2010 in Dubai.

The swimmers were led by national swimming coach Delon Dannhauser and Ebi Mohammadpour, who accompanied the team as assistant coach and masseur.
