Maltese footballer Zach Muscat and his Casa Pia side brought in the new year on a high, after a 2-0 win away at Vilafranquense, in Portugal’s second-tier.
The professional Casa Pia Atletico Clube team was founded in 1920 and is based in the capital of Portugal, Lisbon. The club is named after Casa Pia, a Portuguese children’s charity. The win lifted the team into third place, guaranteeing them a shot to promotion via a play-off, with 30 points after 16 games.
Zach Muscat, Malta international defender, was deployed from the beginning of the match, in the three-man backline and was handed, once again, the captain’s armband.
Casa Pia scored a goal the first half and another in the second, by means of their key players, Joto Silva and Saviour Godwin, to claim three points. Their next game will be a home encounter against Leixoes this weekend.
The 28-year-old Maltese footballer joined Casa Pia AC in September 2020.
