Six-week exemption for the COVID-19 recovered

Have you recently recovered from COVID-19 and waiting to get your booster? Amidst rather a lot of chatter and confusion, the health authorities have finally announced what steps the recently recovered can take.

As of next Monday, the 17 of January, 2022, full vaccination certificates will be required for entry to a wide range of establishments, including cinemas, restaurants and theatres, as well as gyms and spas. Therefore, those who have not yet been able to get the booster shot, primarily those who recently tested positive for the virus, are concerned about whether or not they would be permitted into venues as of next Monday.

The six-week exemption will indeed be granted to anyone with a positive result, who is not yet eligible for the third shot. It’s among a number a number of measures expected to be announced today, by health minister Chris Fearne, who is due to detail how the system will work.

As of 17 January, which certificates do I need to enter venues?

As of next Monday, an accepted vaccine certificate will be required for entry into a number of establishments. The certificate will only be considered valid for three months after the second dose of the vaccine, or nine months from the booster dose.

Those who were infected recently must wait another four weeks from testing positive, in order to be eligible to take the booster shot.
