Restrictions on private gatherings removed as from today

According to Health Minister Chris Fearne, the majority of COVID-19 measures are set to be completely removed by the start of summer 2022. As from today, 7 February, restrictions on private gatherings will be removed, and will no longer be limited to four households.

“This was important during Christmas time because we knew community transmission would be high. Now that its over and numbers are down, this measure that no more than four households can gather will be relaxed completely,” said the minister.

Apart from this, other restrictions have been lifted as from today. These include:

  • Visiting hours at Mater Dei Hospital, which will be extended again and can be found on the Mater Dei Hospital Facebook page.
  • A valid vaccine certificate will no longer be needed for entry into restaurants, bars, snack bars and każini.

More restrictions are set to be removed as from next week, including:

  • A valid vaccine certificate will no longer be needed for entry to gyms, spas, pools, cinemas and theatres.
  • Travellers from dark red zone countries will need to be in quarantine for ten days, and not 14.
