It has been an incredible year in football for Maltese national player Haley Bugeja as she continues to set high standards in the game and is currently sitting  at number 15 on ESPN’s list of 21 best women players under 21.

There seems to be no stopping Bugeja, who is quickly accumulating milestones in her young career. She recently scored the winning goal for Sassuolo against Inter during the final match of the season.  The win had Sassuolo end their season in fourth place, behind the likes of AC Milan, Roma, and Juventus.

ESPN’s Sophie Lawson said: ” With a 2021-22 season that has been hampered by injury, Bugeja has managed to find the back of the net only three times. However, when fit, she has greatly improved her assist rate and has displayed excellent dribbling abilities with both feet. The emergence of Bugeja has revitalised the diminutive European nation of Malta (ranked No. 94 in the world) and with her help, they have managed to show a more competitive edge in international competition.”
