Malta U18 Girls to Compete in the FIBA championship in Andorra

Final preparations are underway by the Malta Under-18 girls squad for the FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship (Division C). This will be held in Andorra from July 26 to July 31.

The Malta basketball contingent is currently in Andorra, waiting to play against Albania in their opening Group A match at 16:00. They will play against the hosts in their second and final group match on Thursday. After the knockout round games over the weekend, the classification games for the semi-finals are set for Friday, July 29.

Twelve athletes, led by coach Gianni Gebbia, have just landed in Andorra, including some up-and-coming players like Philippa Riolo and Anna and Sara Fenech Pace. They are members of the Under-16 girls team that took home the bronze medal at the most recent FIBA U-16 Women’s European Championship Division C.
