This July, a number of top-ranked junior athletes travelled to Klagenfurt, Austria to compete in the FISEC Games. The competitions consisted of several individual and team sports such as athletics, swimming, tennis, table tennis, basketball, futsal, handball, volleyball, and football.

Local swimming athletes have performed extremely well, winning a total of 17 medals; three gold, five silver and eight bronze. The athletics are also performing well and have won two medals so far with games still underway.

The programme features opening and closing ceremonies with cultural components such as a youth forum, the bazar, a theme and slogan for the games and a social evening for the youngsters. Apart from the sports, educational value is also important for the FISEC organisation.

Milly Curmi, a top junior swimmer (16) described the games as “extremely organised “ and raved about the “friendly atmosphere”.
