This Saturday 6 August sees Liquid Club in San Gwann host A.D.S.R. — Kick Starting Your Journey in Electronic Music, a free event aimed at providing an introduction to DJing, music production, live performance and sound engineering
Electronic music has seen an explosion in popularity throughout the last several decades, with artists of the genre gaining increasing popularity and performing to sold-out audiences worldwide. Now an ever-growing field, interest in gaining the vital skills needed to produce and perform it continues to become more widespread, with creators and curators of electronic music eager to expand their knowledge and improve their technical proficiency. This trend is no less represented in Malta, where the country’s thriving electronic and underground music scene has given rise to an entirely new generation of enthusiastic and committed musicians and composers.
In recognition of this growing phenomenon, Sawtooth Audio Academy — one of the island’s leading educational bodies in electronic music — is this week holding an event aimed at helping new and existing producers and performers enhance their skills and gain valuable insights into the inner workings of the industry. Taking place at Liquid Club between 11am and 8:30pm, A.D.S.R. will host a series of seminars and masterclasses covering a range of topics including production, music hardware and performance, as well as making available interactive booths where attendees will have the opportunity to try their hand at DJing and other activities.
The event welcomes numerous well-known names in Malta, including producers Robert Babicz, Yama Gata and Edwin Balzan, and feature live improvised performances — open to participation by all in attendance — by Maltese music collective Music Playground. Visitors will also have the opportunity to surf a range of audio channels through the use of Silent Disco headsets, which will be provided upon entry to the event.
