The Malta LGBTIQ+ Rights Movement organised the country’s first official LGBTIQ+ Pride demonstration in 2004. (MGRM). There were less than 50 protesters, most of whom were straight allies and some politicians who backed equality. They marched through Valletta, the country’s capital, at the time to show solidarity. Since then, Pride has continued to hold its yearly event in the hopes of spreading the LGBTIQ+ Community’s message over the entire island. As part of a partnership with MGRM, ARC organised Malta Pride in 2016, which attracted a record 1,000 attendees, primarily from the LGBTIQ+ community.
