Courses range from beginner to advanced; each course consisting of thirty 90-minute classes and will be held at the China Cultural Centre in Valletta from October 11, 2022 to June 22, 2023

During these courses, you will learn about everything about Chinese culture, how to say simple phrases and how to write some of the most famous Chinese characters.

Children aged from 6 to 11 can attend the Introductory Chinese language courses, and students aged 12 and above can choose between different levels, ranging from beginner to advanced.

The teachers from the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta look forward to taking students on an inspiring Chinese journey through rich classroom practice and laying a solid foundation for fluency.

Certificates would be awarded to students who have completed the course successfully. Two outstanding students will be recommended for the ‘Experience China – China Cultural Centre Students Award Tour’ organised by the Chinese Ministry for Culture and Tourism, who will be subject to potential travel to China depending on international travel restrictions.

Interested students can take the Chinese Proficiency Test, also known as the HSK (hanyu shuiping kaoshi), at the Confucius Institute at the University of Malta and consult their teachers. HSK is an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency assessing non-native Chinese speakers’ abilities in using the Chinese language in their daily, academic and professional lives. HSK consists of six levels.

At any age, learning Chinese language is an enriching experience, an eye-opening opportunity to discover a new culture and one of the most ancient civilisations.
