The Eurovision season is finally underway once again! PBS has just teased the songs that will compete in this year’s Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest. A 30-second snippet of each of the sixteen songs is available on Youtube and on their official website. These sixteen songs have been chosen by a professional jury.

The live final is set to take place on October 2. PBS has published the official regulations, with the jury deciding 75% of the final outcome, while the public will vote for the remaining 25%. The presenter will then announce the top three songs in their respective order.

A similar format was employed last year, with Ike & Kaya taking home the win with their song ‘My Home’. They eventually placed 12th in the grand finale among all the participating countries.

While Malta has never claimed victory in the adult Eurovision, it is no stranger to gold in the junior edition.  Gaia Cauchi won the competition in 2013 with “The Start” when Malta finally returned after a hiatus from the competition while Destiny Chukunyere brought the gold back to Malta in 2015 with her song ‘Not my Soul’. Will 2022 be the year for Malta’s third win in a span of a decade?
