TONIGHT: St Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina to host choral concert

Tonight, Friday 14 October, St Paul Choral Society will present a concert for soloists, organ and orchestra in aid of Hospice Malta, entitled ‘Laudate Dominum’

This evening’s concert will present works by Beethoven and Franck, including the former’s famous Mass in C Major, Op. 86. The concert will feature soloists Rosabelle Bianchi, Claire Massa, Charles Vincenti and Albert Buttigieg, as well as organist Elisabeth Conrad and an orchestra led by Sarah Spiteri.

The concert takes place in Mdina’s St Paul’s Cathedral, an institution founded in the 12th century and rebuilt in the late 1600s and early 1700s following the 1693 Sicily earthquake. It is notable for, according to tradition, being the site where the Roman governor of Malta at the time, Publius, supposedly met St. Paul after his shipwrecking on Malta.

Expect ethereal harmonies, powerful combined forces and sublime solos at tonight’s concert, brought to life all the more magically by its performance in one of Malta’s most notable sacred — and acoustic — spaces.

The St Paul Choral Society will perform this evening at St Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina. To find out more, visit the event page on Facebook.
