Malta International Organ Festival begins this weekend

This Saturday 19 November, Valletta’s Church of the Jesuits will host the first concert taking place as part of the Malta International Organ Festival.

This opening event will present performances of works by composers including Vivaldi and Albinoni, and feature the Kiev Baroque Consort female choir, organist Olga Shadrina-Lychak (Ukraine), baritone Joseph Lia (Malta), oboist Ismaïl Mourtada (Malta) and conductor Nancy Milesis Romano (Italy).

The festival, this year in its 9th edition, sees numerous sacred and secular locations around Malta host a series of engaging and varied concerts celebrating one of history’s most prolific and enduring instruments. Featuring concerts of solo organ repertoire, as well as those including chamber works with vocalists and string and wind instruments, the Malta International Organ Festival looks set to deliver a stunning programme of concerts across an eclectic collection of music.

The first concert of the Malta International Organ Festival will take place 8pm on Saturday 19 November at Jesuits’ Church, Valletta. To find out more, visit the festival website.
