To all winter and cold weather-loving citizens, sorry to break it to you, but don’t expect this warm December weather to go away anytime soon. Friday the 16th will have temperatures feeling as warm as 25°C, as the Malta International Airport weather forecast page states.
Malta boasts more than 3000 hours of sunlight each year, but that doesn’t seem to be enough for the little island. Although December is obviously milder and cooler than summer, the warm temperatures have still been trying (and succeeding) to hold on for dear life.
As the majority of December days have been above 20°C with bright blue skies, you can be confident in knowing that you won’t need to worry if you forget your coat or umbrella at home. Besides, even if you do, don’t worry (you won’t need them anyway). I would recommend bringing a pair of sunglasses with you when you’re out and about.
The next two weeks see temperatures sitting comfortably in the high teens with sun and only light cloud cover. Christmas day is projected to be 18°C and NYE is to be 15°C.
But hey, at least there’s a positive to all of this. If you’ve fallen victim to last-minute Christmas shopping, worry not and enjoy this lovely mildly warm weather by shopping outside to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the now crowded shopping hotspots.
