Highly-acclaimed Maltese film Luzzu will be airing on BBC Four this Saturday at 9pm
The trail-blazing feature film has broken record after record, after winning a number of awards, nominations and mentions. Luzzu illustrates the life of fishermen in Malta and the trials and tribulations of their work, which leads them to resort to the black market trade, in order to maintain their livelihood and for real-life fisherman Jesmark to provide for his wife and newborn baby.
Jesmark, like his father before him, makes a precarious living from fishing on his 12-foot luzzu on the inshore waters of Malta. On learning that his infant son is not showing normal growth and needs specialist attention, his financial situation becomes critical, and he has to make a potentially life-changing decision.
Tune in to BBC Four this Saturday. The film will be airing in Maltese and English with English subtitles.
