Third Edition of Żabbar Halloween Lantern Festival this weekend
This Saturday, October 28, Halloween will see Biċċieni Alleys and the adjacent squares transformed for the Zabbar Halloween Lantern Festival. The event is organised by MMG Promotions, who have pulled out all the stops to create an impressively extravagant variety of spooky activities for the whole family.
As the name suggests, the main alley will be lined with colourful lanterns, overseeing the festivities. However, believe us when we say they’ll be doing more than that to create a Halloween atmosphere. Scary artistic exhibitions and installations will be scattered all over the alleys for your viewing pleasure, so don’t be alarmed if you turn a corner and find a glittery ghoul standing in front of you. If you fancy yourself an artist or perhaps skilled with a knife, you can put your pumpkin carving skills to the test and take part in the jack-o lantern competition!
What’s more, there will be a number of classic activities for kids to enjoy, including trick or treating, trampolines, and even a bouncy castle. However, regardless of age, the festival has something for everybody. In fact, the Horror Cinema is returning with some movies that are intended for a PG audience. Abandon the idea that only children dress up for Halloween, cause you do not want to be the only person dressed in jeans at the Halloween Costume Street Party, for which music will be provided by DJ Domnic and Commander Jay.
When you get hungry, as even monsters do, you can opt for one of the multiple food stalls that will be available. Ofcourse, no Halloween event is complete without candy, and there will be plenty to be found at the sweet stalls. But don’t worry, anyone including kids gets sick of sugar eventually, and once you do you can find many stalls with savoury delights. Plus, there will even be a bar available for the adults. Finally, get your picture taken in the Creepy Family Photo Booth to commemorate the night.
The festival is free of charge and perfect for those parents out there who’d rather celebrate during the weekend. The event is being carried out in collaboration with Visit Malta and the Local Council of Żabbar, and is set to last from 6 pm until midnight.
