Heritage Malta to host Christmas at the Fort once again
In spite of the consistently warm weather, Christmas is still very much on its way. To kick off the festive season, Heritage Malta is holding a Christmas experience at Fort St Elmo in Valletta. On Saturday December 2 and Sunday December 3, the fort’s major areas will be transformed into a special, kid-friendly Christmas village that has something for the whole family.
This two-day event will have a variety of activities for kids to enjoy. There will be an interactive kids’ area with games and cookery classes, and ‘Meet and Greet’ with Santa. Children will also be able to write letters to Santa and let him know what they’re wishing for this year. Although, whether they’ve been naughty or nice, all children in attendance will be leaving with a gift!
In the meantime, there’s plenty of activities and treats for adults to enjoy. Visit the vibrant artisan market and peruse the various stands offering handcrafted goods, perhaps you’ll find someone’s Christmas gift while you’re there! Speaking of handcrafted, don’t forget to take a look at the crib exhibition.Â
If you get hungry, treat yourself to a variety of quintessential Christmas treats, such as roasted chestnuts, mince pies, and mulled wine. While you’re at it, take the opportunity to savour some traditional Maltese delicacies, including honey rings (‘Qaghaq tal-ghasel’), date-filled pastries (‘mqaret’) and a warm, spiced, chocolatey drink called ‘imbuljata’.
Throughout the event, a choir will be putting on a variety show. They’ll be singing a spectrum of songs, from traditional Maltese ‘għanja’ music, to the more commonly known Christmas carols!
Christmas at the Fort takes place on December 2 from 6 pm to 11pm, with the latest admission being 10.30 pm, as well as December 3 from 10 am to 8 pm, 7.30 pm being the last admission.
In the spirit of Christmas, entrance is free! What’s more, the event is being held in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
