7th Edition of ‘Tallinja Għal L-Istrina’ this Saturday

On December 23, Malta Public Transport will be holding the seventh edition of ‘Tallinja għal L-Istrina’, their own contribution to embracing the spirit of giving during the holidays.

Since 1995, L-Istrina has taken place on Boxing Day every year. It raises millions of dollars for the Malta Community Chest Fund, which helps those in need of expensive or uncommon medical care. Additionally, the telethon generates money for other nonprofits and volunteer organisations that work in a variety of fields.

The main objective of the “Tallinja għal l-Istrina” campaign is to gather money for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation (MCCFF), a nonprofit organisation that helps people with a range of needs. Effective this Saturday, Malta Public Transport will donate to the Community Chest Fund for each trip made by patrons on that day, including those who use the free transportation programme.

This implies that the more individuals that use the bus on Saturday, the more money will be donated to the charity. Malta Public Transport gave more than €234,000 to MCCFF between 2016 and 2022. Felipe Cosmen, the chairman of Malta Public Transport, stated, “We encourage the public to stand alongside us in aiding the less fortunate by using our bus services on this day.”

This initiative includes those who make use of Tallinja’s free transport scheme – If a card is scanned, a donation is made. So, get around the island with Tallinja as much as possible this Saturday, and help aid one of the country’s most prominent causes!
