Valletta Workshop on Sensory and Inclusive Theatre Making

In preparation for their upcoming theatrical release of ‘SNOWGLOBE’ in March 2024, Spazju Kreattiv is honing their inclusive theatre techniques. Thus, on January 11, you are invited to a workshop organised in partnership with the renowned Replay Theatre Company, a trailblazer in inclusive and multi-sensory theatre.

Replay Theatre Company has been creating theatre productions for younger audiences since 1988. Their work ranges from inclusive performances for children and teenagers with varied skills and backgrounds, to early years programmes for babies, all with the goal of inspiring and enthralling people under the age of 19. Through top-notch theatre, Replay theatre Company has been enhancing the lives of young audiences in Northern Ireland where they’re based as well as abroad.

During the workshop, the company’s Director of Inclusive Theatre, Andrew Stanford will be joined by Michael Johnston, a seasoned and inclusive performer. Creative techniques will be taught in order to assist artists in creating meaningful theatre experiences for children and youth with disabilities. Moreover, participants will investigate performance methods for various segments of disability, such as autism and complex/additional needs.

In addition to improving your abilities as a theatre practitioner, taking part in this session will help involve neurodivergent people in the arts, as well as emphasise that autism isn’t exclusive to young children. This project is supported by Arts Council Malta, Inklużjoni, and Opening Doors Malta.

Tickets cost €10 and can be bought here. Do not only people over the age of 16 can participate. This workshop will be taking place at Spazju Kreattiv Valletta, between 6.30 pm and 8 pm.
