Ryanair Launches Three New Routes from Malta for Summer 2024
On Wednesday, Ryanair announced the addition of three new routes starting from the end of March. The low-cost airline will now include Rome, Norwich, and Belfast in its network, bringing the total number of destinations to 67.
Flights to and from Belfast are scheduled for Tuesdays and Saturdays, while Norwich flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays.
Beginning 31 March, there will be two daily flights to Rome’s Fiumicino, except for Fridays, which will see three flights from Malta to the Italian capital. Ryanair currently operates one or two daily flights to Rome’s Ciampino airport, with the final flight scheduled for 30 March .
CEO Michael O’Leary mentioned the airline’s being “squeezed out” of Ciampino due to what he termed “artificial noise restrictions.” He noted a reduction in the daily flight limit from 120 to 90, imposed about five years ago.
O’Leary projected foot traffic for Ryanair to reach 4.5 million passengers between April 2024 and March 2025, representing nearly a quarter increase compared to the current year.
In addition to the new destinations, 20 other routes will experience increased flight frequencies, including daily flights to Athens, Zagreb, and Vienna, expected to commence on March 31.
To commemorate the launch of the three new routes, Ryanair has initiated a three-day seat sale starting Wednesday, offering fares starting from €24.99.
