The Malta Maritime Museum is Back in Action with a Brand-New Exhibition!
Malta Maritime Museum, Vittoriosa
You can’t really say you’ve seen it all along the stunning Birgu waterfront until you’ve checked out the Malta Maritime Museum. It’s housed in the Old Naval Bakery and tells the tale of Malta’s maritime exploits over 7000 years, from way back in prehistory right up to today. The museum finally reopens today, with a unique year-long exhibition called ‘An Island at the Crossroads’.
‘An Island at the Crossroads’ dives into Malta’s rich maritime history, exploring its strategic location in the Mediterranean and the impact of the sea on its identity. It is a treasure trove of stories, featuring artefacts that paint a vivid picture of Malta’s past. From ex-voto paintings to ancient seafaring instruments, each item tells a tale of love, conflict, and resilience.
The exhibition officially opens its doors today 9 February, 2024, promising visitors an immersive experience like no other.
Admission prices are €8 for adults, €6 for seniors, students, and concessions, and €4 for children.
The museum will be open daily (except Tuesdays) from 9 am to 5 pm in February, and from March to December 2024, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Don’t miss out on this fascinating journey through Malta’s maritime heritage!
