Malta's Jodi Jones Names League Two Player of the Season at EFL Awards

Malta’s international footballer, Jodi Jones, clinched the prestigious title of League Two Player of the Season at the EFL awards ceremony held on Sunday night. Jones faced tough competition from Elliott Lee of Wrexham and Davis Keillor-Dunn of Mansfield Town but emerged victorious owing to his outstanding performances throughout the season. His tenure with Notts County has been remarkable, marked by numerous record-breaking assists.

In February, the 26 year old footballer shattered the League Two assist record for a single season, with 24 assists and six goals. His exceptional tally of 24 assists in 37 starts not only established a new League Two record but also surpassed the previous English season record held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry. Notably, his 23rd assist occurred during Notts’ recent 3-1 triumph over Walsall, marking a significant milestone under the guidance of new head coach Stuart Maynard.

Having previously competed in the Championship with Coventry City, Jones’ career faced setbacks due to persistent injuries. However, his move to Notts County, finalised last summer, revitalised his career, showcasing his undeniable talent and contribution to the team’s success in League Two this season.
