Discover the Magic of Malta's Potato and Agrarian Festival This Weekend

The 9th edition of the Potato and Agrarian Festival is set to enchant both tourists and locals on Sunday, 19 May, 2024, in the picturesque village of Qrendi. From 8:00 am – 7:00 pm, the pretty ‘Misraħ Tal-Maqluba’ square will transform into a lively celebration of one of the island’s most cherished agricultural treasures, the humble potato.

Who doesn’t love potatoes? Chips, baked, fried, they have to be one of the most versatile vegetables around, and here in Malta we have our very own festival dedicated to them!

A Feast for the Senses

Prepare your taste buds for a culinary adventure like no other! This family-friendly festival will feature plenty of traditional gourmet dishes, all with a delightful potato twist. Go ahead and try the rich flavours of classic Maltese cuisine, and if you are feeling daring, don’t miss out on the festival’s showstopper—the delectable potato cinnamon ice cream! This unique treat has become a festival favourite, blending the creamy goodness of ice cream with the earthy sweetness of potatoes and a hint of spicy cinnamon. Trust us when we say it tastes better than it sounds!

Cultural Extravaganza

Beyond the mouth-watering food, the Potato and Agrarian Festival offers a deep dive into rural Maltese culture. You can also join guided tours around Qrendi and explore the historical marvels of the nearby Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra Archaeological Park. These ancient sites provide a fascinating glimpse into Malta’s rich history.

As you wander through the festival, you’ll be serenaded by the soulful sounds of traditional Maltese folk singing (għana). There will also be plenty of dance shows, offering a glimpse of true Maltese culture.

Adding to the festival’s excitement, the renowned group The Busker will make a special appearance. Known for their super catchy tunes and being last year’s Malta Eurovision entrants, The Busker’s presence promises to elevate the festival’s atmosphere and most importantly, to get you dancing!
