Singer Joe Cutajar and saxophonist Sammy Murgo had both appeared as soloists with the MCO on the Pjazza Teatru Rjal stage.

Following the outstanding success of previous swing concerts, the Malta Concert Orchestra shall open this year’s summer season at Pjazza Teatru Rjal with MCO BIG BAND SWINGS under the direction of Maestro Paul Abela. 

Pjazza Teatru Rjal will dedicate this year’s edition to the memory of two local veterans of jazz and swing who passed away earlier on this year – singer Joe Cutajar and saxophonist Sammy Murgo – both of whom had appeared as soloists with the MCO on the Pjazza Teatru Rjal stage.

This will be the first in this season’s busy summer schedule for the MCO that shall include MCO Pop, Funk, Rock on 28 June, a concert featuring the most popular Cartoni Animati theme songs from the 80’s and 90’s on July 26, the ever popular and annual appointment with Notte Italiana on 23 August, and MCO Soul, Rhythm ‘n’ Blues on 13 September among others.
