Selfmade Market: A Unique Artisan Experience at Fort St Elmo This June

Mark your calendars for 16 June, 2024, for the very first edition of the Selfmade Market at Fort St Elmo in Valletta from 11am to 6pm.

This market aims to serve as a space for local artisans and creators to shed light on their work against the historic backdrop of Fort St Elmo in Valletta. From 11am to 6pm, the fort’s outdoor corridor will transform into a bustling hub of creativity and craftsmanship, open to the public for free for just one day.

The Selfmade Market is a celebration of self-made artistry, featuring a diverse group of creators, many of which are fairly new to the scene, showcasing their handmade, printed, designed, and crafted products. Visitors can explore a mix of stalls offering everything from exquisite art pieces, stylish home decor, and stunning jewellery to baked goods, crochet items, and much more.

“We’re thrilled to host the Selfmade Market at such a historic and picturesque location,” said Johann Agius from nofacemt. “There’s no better backdrop to display local talent, than doing so at such a historical location for our islands.”

“We believe that it’s the perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time together, especially on Father’s Day, while supporting local artisans and discovering one-of-a-kind items,” continues Nicole Borg from Lincole Handmade and Jessica Magro from Carina Print and Designs.

The event promises something for everyone, also making it an ideal outing for families looking to make Father’s Day extra special. Whether visiting with your family, your friends or your dad enjoy a day of exploration and inspiration, where you can both appreciate the talent and passion of local creators. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the vibrant and creative spirit of the Selfmade Market.

Admission is free for the outdoor corridor of the fort. (Access to The War Museum is against the standard ticket fee.)
