Malta Philharmonic Orchestra's Chamber Series Opens with Beethoven and Brahms

The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra’s Chamber Series returns for a new season, kicking off with a concert on Sunday, 6 October, at 10:30 am at the historic Robert Samut Hall in Floriana.

The performance will feature two monumental works by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms, highlighting the brilliance of both composers in blending the piano with other instruments. Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds, Op. 16, showcases his early style while offering glimpses of his later innovations, while Brahms’ Piano Quintet, Op. 34 is renowned for its emotional depth and structural complexity, standing as one of his most significant contributions to the chamber music repertoire.

MPO Resident Conductor Michael Laus will be at the piano, accompanied by an esteemed ensemble: John McDonough (oboe), Godfrey Mifsud (clarinet), Giacomo Cella (bassoon), Etienne Cutajar (horn), Agnieska Kuźma and Stefan Calleja (violins), Ester Garcia Salas (viola), and Ákos Kertész (cello).
