Explore Malta’s Historic Sites by Candlelight This October
Fort St Angelo
On Saturday, 12 and Sunday 13 October 2024, three of Malta’s most important historical sites – the Malta Maritime Museum, the Inquisitor’s Palace, and Fort St Angelo – will offer special reduced admission rates and guided tours in both Maltese and English.
The sites will be open from 9:00 am and feature extended hours until 11:00 pm on Saturday and 7:00 pm on Sunday. The evening ambiance will be especially magical, with candles and torches lighting the paths, including 1,500 candles at Fort St Angelo. Thanks to a collaboration with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, visitors can access the upper part of the fort. The event will also feature historical re-enactors to enhance the experience.

This weekend offers a unique opportunity to explore four captivating exhibitions:
Malta Maritime Museum:
An Island at the Crossroads – Journey through centuries of Malta’s maritime history, highlighting the islands’ central role in navigation. Visitors can also purchase Taste History treats.
Inquisitor’s Palace:
Fare Convito – The Archaeology of Banqueting in Hospitaller Malta – Delve into Baroque banqueting traditions, featuring artifacts from archaeological digs at the palace.
Fort St Angelo:
Betrayal and Vengeance – The Slaves’ Conspiracy of 1749 – Experience one of Malta’s most gripping historical episodes, brought to life through 19 historic drawings.
Inquisitor’s Palace:
Threads of Faith – Liturgical Vestments of the Order of St John – Admire intricate vestments worn by clergy, including pieces dating back to 1496.
