The Three Palaces Festival Kicks Off Tomorrow
Discover Malta’s extraordinary heritage through intimate performances and unique art experiences at Three Palaces Festival, which kicks off on 30 October and runs till 3 November 2024.
Inspired by the concept that ‘our ordinary is actually extraordinary’, the festival highlights the magnificence of Malta’s historical sites while opening their doors to all. Set within iconic Maltese palaces, this festival blends music, visual arts, and creative workshops to showcase emerging and established artists from Malta and beyond.
Festival Highlights:
30 October – The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires
Experience a thematic evening with Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons and Piazzolla’s The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, both arranged for piano trio. Tchaikovsky’s lyrical pieces evoke the cycle of nature, while Piazzolla’s tango rhythms infuse a vibrant, urban pulse, creating a dynamic interplay between the serene beauty of nature and the lively streets of Buenos Aires.
31 October – Come & Sing at St. John’s Co-Cathedral
Join an immersive choral event with the Amadeus Chamber Choir, St Paul’s Choral Society, and the majestic organ of St John’s Co-Cathedral. Participants are invited to sing along in this majestic setting, accompanied by a brass quartet. Don’t miss the documentary on the L’Isle Adam Illuminated Choral Books and Caravaggio’s masterpiece, The Beheading of St. John, screened throughout the day in the Oratory.
1 November – Max Richter’s Vivaldi: The Four Seasons Recomposed
Richter’s minimalist reimagining of Vivaldi’s classic work incorporates modern electronic elements, offering a fresh, meditative experience of The Four Seasons. By layering, looping, and harmonising Vivaldi’s themes, Richter creates a soundscape that feels both timeless and profoundly contemporary.
2 November – Traditional Mask-Making Workshop with Lawrence Coleiro
Join master float builder Lawrence Coleiro at the Malta Society of Arts for a hands-on mask-making workshop. All ages are welcome to try their hand at creating traditional masks in the expert guidance of one of Malta’s foremost carnival artists. Materials are provided for this creative workshop.
3 November – Roses, Carnevale, and Angels Unmasked
Conclude the festival with an exploration of artistic themes that celebrate life and heritage through dynamic performances and artistic displays.
