Malta Kickboxing Team Shines at ISKA World Championship, Bringing Home 13 Medals
The Maltese national kickboxing team has returned home triumphant from the ISKA World Championship in Vienna, Austria, securing an impressive 13 medals and ranking 14th out of 35 participating nations. Competing against a remarkable pool of 1,070 kickboxers, the Maltese athletes showcased their talent, earning four gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.

- Ahweafa Garenne: -50 kg 18+ Muay Thai
- Celeste Galea: -65 kg Low Kick
- Faris Lukovic: Muay Thai
- Jake Gomez Blanco: 80+ kg K1 Light
Silver Medalists:
- Victor Galea: -50 kg 15 to 17 K1 Light
- Jesred Piscopo: -70 kg Low Kick
- Skyler Bezzina: -60 kg 15 to 17 K1 Light
Bronze Medalists:
- Celeste Galea: -65 kg 18+ K1
- Faris Lukovic: -90 kg K1
- Borko Stanojcic: -75 kg Low Kick
- Singleton Toriano: -80 kg Low Kick
- Bajic Milivoje: -85 kg Low Kick
- Ahweafa Garenne: -50 kg 18+ K1
This remarkable achievement allowed the Maltese kickboxing team to improve their overall ranking by one position from the previous year, underscoring their dedication and skill.
In addition to their success in the competition, Maltese MKBA President Mr Isaac Cetchuti announced that Malta will host the ISKA European Championships in 2025. This opportunity arose as a direct result of the exceptional performances of Maltese fighters at this prestigious event and the ongoing collaboration with the ISKA organisation, led by Mr Cetchuti.
Mr Cetchuti expressed his heartfelt congratulations to all Maltese fighters for their outstanding performances throughout the competition. He also extended his gratitude to head coach Master Noel Mercieca and the entire coaching staff for their hard work and dedication. Furthermore, he acknowledged the invaluable support from sponsors, government organisations, and everyone who contributes to the growth of local kickboxing.
