We’re gearing up for the most wonderful time of the year. The smell of mulled wine and mince pies is just around the corner, and it’s time to make plans for the festive season. This December, Teatru Manoel has you covered when it comes to festive entertainment for audiences of all ages and interests.
The Great Little Panto Show
Back by popular demand, the TOI TOI smash hit ‘The Great Little Panto Show’ returns to the Teatru Manoel Studio Theatre, after a successfully sold-out run in December 2023. This beginner’s guide to pantomime is written by panto-expert Malcolm Galea and features music by Matteo Depares. With an admission age of 3+, ‘The Great Little Panto Show’ is the perfect introduction to the world of pantomime in a comfortable and accessible space, running from 7 to the 13 December.
The Nutcracker
What says Christmas more than ‘The Nutcracker’? Jump into the world of Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in an original rendition by Moveo Dance Company. Merging the magic of new choreography with Tchaikovsky’s iconic music, this classic story is brought to life in a contemporary dance performance which is sure to enchant and captivate audiences. Teatru Manoel presents Moveo Dance Company’s fresh take on this classic ballet on the main stage from 9 to 12 December at 7pm.
12 Days of Christmas
Fans of classical music are spoilt for choice with the ‘12 Days of Christmas’ midday concerts. Running from 19 December to 5 of January, a selection of young musicians and singers will perform a different repertoire daily at Sala Isouard. All proceeds from these concerts will go towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
Rapunzel - A Tangled Panto
And of course, no Christmas season is complete without a trip to Teatru Manoel for the main stage pantomime! This year FM Theatre Productions presents ‘Rapunzel – A Tangled Panto’, directed by Luke Mercieca and written by Edward Mercieca – who also plays the cheeky Dame Tfarfira. Featuring stunning production design by Matthew Cassar and fabulous costumes by Denise Mulholland, this show promises to dazzle. Musical Director Kris Spiteri and choreographer Francesco Nicodeme bring the story to life with toe-tapping tunes and wonderful dances. Join Edward Mercieca, Chiara Hyzler, and a cast of superstars at Teatru Manoel from the 22nd of December to the 9th of January for an unforgettable Christmas experience for the family.
